My Hometown

Dallas, TX

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

Ah, Dallas. My hometown. I lived there (and in surrounding cities) for almost twenty years. I graduated high school from there. While I do like the peace and quiet of the small town I'm in now, I would be lying if I said there aren't days I miss the hustle bustle of the city.

It's hard to see in that picture, but there's a little black building in that downtown that I used to figure skate and then work in. It was such a big part of my life for so many years. Downtown Dallas IS even cooler in person, and even though I'm usually a directionally challenged person - it's the one place I can always find my way around. I always would impress my friends with my traffic skills when driving in downtown Dallas. :)

Very close to where I grew up is a beautiful lake called White Rock Lake - where I spent SO much time there... running and bike riding with my Dad as a kid... and in high school and the couple of years after hanging out with friends and such. I had my 19th birthday on the lake and it was perhaps the best party I've ever had. The lake holds such a sweet spot in my heart.

Dallas also has one of the nicest, best malls ever - Northpark Mall. I worked in this mall for about two years at two different stores, and it it still never lost it's cool factor. If you ever visit Dallas, this is a MUST see. :)

One thing Chad and I both loved to do in Dallas was catch Rangers games. Tickets are cheap, start at around $12 and the games are fun. I just loved the general ambience of the ballpark. Our favorite thing to do on the 4th of July is eat in the restaurant above the field, watch a game, and stay for the fireworks after.

Dallas also has GREAT concerts. This is the smirnoff center / superpages.com center - it's known by many different names but a great place to catch a concert... kick back on the lawn and enjoy good music. :) Tickets are pricey, but worth it!

Other things to check out in Dallas...

West End Marketplace... great restaurants and some shopping.

I taught school in Dallas before I married almost 40 yrs ago. Both my kids were born in Dallas and my son lives near White Rock Lake now.

I enjoyed Dallas when we were young but after being away all these years from the traffic, it is a great place to visit...but I love the country!!

A great post about Dallas! You have a cute blog!
Blessings!
