Baby Names

Wow, this is a fitting Show Us Your Life, this Friday! :) I actually have been pretty quiet about our name choices since knowing we actually are pregnant; but Chad and I have had names picked out for years. The boy's name changed a tad, and the girl's name spelling changed, but basically we've had names picked out...

Also, in baby news, I told my students today! They were making Mother's Day cards so I mentioned to them I am going to be a mommy soon too. They were SO excited and cute! Everyone wanted the baby to be named after them and had something to say to the baby when in an effort to calm them I said "Ya know, my baby can hear you! We need to quiet down..." :) Oh well, it was cute and a fun moment to share with them. It felt good to finally having the perfect timing to do so.

If it's a boy....

Kent Michael

"Kent" is after Chad's dad (Kenny) and Michael is after my dad (Michael). We originally had a different boy's name picked, but one day were throwing some ideas out for fun, and when we got to this one, LOVED it because it's a perfect way to honor both our dads and have a name we both like!

If it's a girl....

Alizia Rae

I have always loved the name Alecia, but have seen so many pronounce it "Aleesha" when it's spelled that way. I love it sounded out as "A-lee-zee-a" and we decided this spelling is the best way to get the sound right and I wanted a "z" in the girl's name for some reason. :) Rae is a name I have loved forever, even before I met Chad. Chad's Mom passed away before I met her. When we were dating, at church one Sunday Chad showed me a picture of his Mom with her name underneath.... Donna Rae! I knew then he was the one. We both love the name, and 'Ray' is Chad's middle name as well as my Dad's. We also wanted to honor Chad's mother if we have a girl.

So there you go, you lucky ducks! I'm so excited that soon I will know which of these names we will actually be using in a few months!
